The Korean kimchi of Malaysia

Kimchi is known as the staple food of Korea because wherever you may go, it is the side dish that sits on the table. In Malaysia, this comparable dish can be said to be Sambal. This is a side dish that appears most commonly during meals and it is something that is also similarly popular in Indonesia and Singapore as well.

한국의 주식은 김치로 알려져 있다. 말레이시아에서도 비슷하게 ‘삼발’이란 요리가 그 나라의 주식이라고 할 수 있다. 이 반찬은 가장 일반적으로 식사 할 때 나타난다. 그리고 말레이시아만 아니라 인도네시아, 싱가포르에서도 마찬가지로 인기가 높은 반찬이다.

It is mainly made from various chili peppers and it can be awfully fiery for those who do not take their spices well. You can find some of these Sambal sauces pre-made to be sold in foreign nations in gourmet departments. Though this may not taste as original as those made by the native Malaysians but I would still kill for one of those department store Sambals anytime.

‘삼발’은 주로 다양한 칠리 고추로 만들어져서 많은 사람들한테는 매우 매우게 느껴질 수 도 있다. 외국에 판매 할 수 있도록 미리 만들어진 삼발도 찾을 수 있다.  판매되는 삼발은 기본 원주민들이 만든 것 처럼 원래의 맛은나지 않지만, 나는 그 삼발도 그렇게 그리울수가 없다.

There are 4 types of Malaysian Sambals and they are as follows:

말레이시안 삼발은4 가지가 있고, 그들은 다음과 같다:

1.    Sambal belacan

This is created from pounded chilis with toasted shrimp paste. Lime juice and sugar are added in a stone mortar with the previous ingredients. It is usually consumed with cucumber with rice of course.

이것은 구운 새우 페이스트와 고추로 만들어진다. 라임 주스, 설탕도 이 재료들과 함께 돌 절구에 추가된다. 이 삼발은 쌀과 오이와 함께 먹는다.

2.    Sambal jeruk

Red or green pepper is used to make this Sambal and it is made with sugar and vinegar. It is commonly used as a seasoning for noodle dishes and fried rice.

빨간색 또는 녹색 고추와 설탕과 식초로 구성되는 삼발이다. 그것은 일반적으로 국수 요리와 볶음밥에 양념으로 사용된다.

3.    'Sambal daging

The ingredients that go into making this are meat and spices. It is cooked until the meat becomes soft and loses its form.

이 삼발에 들어가는 특별한 재료들은 고기와 향신료 이다. 고기가 부드럽게될 때까지 조리를 한다.

4.    Sambal tempoyak

This exists as a raw and cooked form.

Firstly, in the raw Sambal form, it is made from pounded chilis with dried anchovies. Also, interestingly fermented durian is served with this Sambal. (Tempoyak is a sweet-sour taste that helps reduce the spiciness of the chili of the Sambal). The Sambal and Tempoyak can be mixed separately when it is served so that the person can control the ratio of the Tempoyak to Sambal.

Secondly, in the cooked form, it is prepared from shallots, lemongrass, and pounded chilis being stir fried with Tempoyak, turmeric leaf (for a good scent) and anchovies.

이 삼발은 조리 된 형태로 와 조리되지 않은 상태로 존재한다.

첫째, 원료삼발 형식으로는, 마른 멸치와 고추랑 만들어진다. 또한, 흥미로운 발효 두리안이 이 삼발와 함께 제공된다. (Tempoyak는 삼발의 매운 맛을  줄일 수 있는 달콤 새콤한 맛이 난다. 먹는 사람마다 자기의 취향을 따라 삼발에 Tempoyak의 비율을 제어 할 수 있도록 되있다.

둘째, 조리 형태로는, shallots에 레몬 그라스를 준비하고, 고추와 볶은Tempoyak, 심황 잎 (좋은 향기나는 잎)과 멸치와 혼합한다.

Global craze for this man!

The only Korean pop person I really had amazement for was this man called PSY. His actual name is Park Jae-sang and he was born on the 31^st of December 1977. He is a singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer AND record producer! You can say that he is one multi-skilled person. Other pop idols provide the visuals and performances but not many produce their own songs that hit the billboard charts with this much enthusiasm.
유일하게 한국가수를 좋아하게 된 사람은 싸이이라는 사람이었다. 그의 실제 이름은 박재상 이고, 그는 12 월 1977 년 31 일에 태어났다. 그는 가수, 작곡가, 래퍼, 댄서 및 기록 생산자이다! 싸이는  멀티 숙련 된 사람이라고 볼수있다. 다른 아이돌은 영상과 공연을 제공하지만 많은 사람들이 이렇게 많은 열정과 게시판 차트를 누르는 자신의 노래를 생산 하는 사람이 흔치 않다.

Psy’s debut was in January 2001 when he first released his full-length album PSY from the PSYcho World! As you can see from the album title, you can expect some outrageous excitement from his songs. Despite all the excitement, there were a lot of issues upon how the album contained ‘inappropriate content’. This was due to some of the blunt lyrics and striking dance moves. He was really one bizarre singer that you would not expect to become one of your typical Korean idols.

싸이의 데는 2001 년 1 월에 하였다. 이 앨범 제목에서 볼 수 있듯이, 그의 노래에서는 터무니없는 흥분을 기대할 수 있다. 하지만, 이앨범 대해서 '부적절한 콘텐츠' 때문에 부정적인 반응도 많았다. 이 무딘 가사와 인상적인 춤 동작의 일부로 인해했다. 그는 정말 당신이 전형적인 한국어 우상 중 하나로 보이지 않지만, 정말 특히한 매력으로 최고의 인기남이 되었다고 생각한다.

Honestly, Psy is not your ordinary broad shouldered, tall, smoldering sexy babe of an idol, but even with his unconventional appearance, there is an attraction that you cannot fight off and that is his entertainment force and straightforward approach. The fact is you have a good time whilst listening to his songs and watching his performances. As much as people love being in the presence of hot guys with sizzling abs and distinctively carved faces, in my opinion, it does not beat the burning heat brought off by the roaring crowd when you hear a song such as Gangnam style. I guess you can say that the impression his personality gives off is something that penetrates right into you.

솔직히, 싸이는 우상의 일반적인 아이돌로는 안보인다. 넓은 어깨 와 키도 크고, 섹시한 몸매를 가진 것은 아니지만, 싸이만의 모습에 빠지는 사람들이 많다. 그의 노래를 듣고 공연을 감상하며 즐거운 시간을 보낼수 밖에 없어서 그런것같다. 많은 사람들은 지글 거리는 복근과 조각같은 얼굴을 보며 느끼는 신남에 반전이다.  왜냐하면, 싸이의 강남 스타일 노래를 들을 때 나는 열을 이길 수 없어서 그렇다.

I usually listen to his songs via Youtube and on the television. Before, I had to search him through the internet, however, these days it seems like he is popping up everywhere whether you want to see him or not. I had never seen someone who brought up this much craze and I am pretty sure in Malaysia, where I am from, the craze will be as big. Malaysian people are well educated on Korean pop and I was surprised at how my friends knew more than I did as a Korean. It is a trend that is soaring through numerous nations to become an international development.

난 보통 유튜브 와 텔레비전을 통해 싸이의 노래를 듣는다. 전에는 싸이를 보고싶었을때는 인터넷을 통해 검색했어야 됬지만, 요즘에는 어디가든 보이는 얼굴이 싸이의 얼굴이다. 나는 정말로 이런 열정을 만든 한국사람을 본 적이없는 것 같다. 말레이시아 사람들도 한국가요에 대한 소식을 무척 잘 알고 있고, 내 친구들은 한국인 나 보다 놀랍게도 더 많이 알고 있다. 한국가요는 정말 수많은 국가를 통해 급증하는 추세인것 같다.

If I actually had the chance to date him, the first thing I would DEFINITELY ask him for is a performance that I could actually watch face up without having to watch him on a screen in a crowded concert or having to view him through a television screen. In addition, due to his active personality I would love to do something exhilarating. Perhaps horse riding! In relation to his current hit song J Nevertheless, I feel like due to his open personality, it will just be awesome to sit with him in a coffee place having a frank conversation without having the feeling of ever being judged. ALSO! He seems to have a healthy appetite, so I would definitely want to go to an all you can eat buffet with him!   

나는 싸이와  데이트를 할 수있는 기회가 온다면, 사람들이 많은 콘서트에서 화면에 그의 노래를 감상 할 필요가 없고 또는 TV 화면을 통해 안 봐도 되는 나의 만한 의한 콘서트를 부탁할것이다. 또한, 그의 적극적인 성격으로 인해 나는 짜릿한 뭔가를 하고 싶다. 승마를 타며 데이트를 하며 매우 즐거울것같다! 하지만, 무엇을 해도 싸이의 솔직함과 개방적인 성격에 인해, 그냥 어느 카페에서 대화를 갖게 되도 멎진 시간을 보낼수 있을것 같다. 또한! 그는 건강한 식욕이 있을 것 같아서, 나는 그와 뷔페 같은데 가서 배터지게 먹고싶다! 잘먹는 사람이랑 가면, 그렇게 음식이 더 맛있을 수가 없기 때문이다!
