아스맛(Asmat) 부족의 패션스타일 (by Windu)

 

Talking about minorities, not only talking about small group of people in our area which are still having close-minded and even seem cannot be touched by new civilization. In Indonesia there are many minorities that live far away from modernization. These people usually live in their own areas, some of them still live in the jungle. But they are even though living without feeling globalization or even smart phone or television, they could govern their societies by their own rules. In small part of Papua Province, the east region of Indonesia, living some Asmat Tribe. The people are so interesting and attractive for others.

소수민족에 대해 말하자면, 단지 소수 민족이 작은 단위의 사람들로 구성되었을 뿐만 아니라 여전히 보수적이고 새로운 문명을 받아들이지 못 할 것같은 사람들을 말한다.

인도네시아엔 많은 소수 민족들이 살고 있다. 그들은 현대 문명과 굉장히 멀리 떨어진 곳에 거주하고 있다. 그들은 대개 그들만의 지역에 살며 어떤 부족들은 여전히 정글에 살기도한다. 그러나 비록 그들이 세계화를 느낀다거나 스마트폰이나 텔레비전이 없이 살아도, 그들은 그들만의 법을 가지고 그들의 사회를 통치하고 다스릴 수 있다. 인도네시아의 동부 Papua라는 주의 한 부분에 Asmat이라는 부족이 산다. 그 부족들은 우리들에게 굉장히 흥미롭고 관심이 가는 집단으로 꼽힌다.

 
The location of Asmat, is in a part of Papua Island. The island which is located close to Papua New Guinea and Australia. Asmat itself is always has their own magnetic that make foreigners want to learn and even want to visit and try to live as Asmat people live. One of interesting customs of Asmat is when one member of the family die, other members should cry as loud as they can for several days. They also usually do not grave the dead body but just put in the hill until it becomes skull. If we visit Papua, we can directly see many skulls anywhere in the hills close to Asmat village.

Asmat people live in the houses that they build by themselves and they have fashion style which is different from other people. Asmat people are used to wear the clothes made from coconut leaves. Man usually don’t wear trousers but using koteka to cover man’s body part.

Asmat 부족은 그들이 만든집에 살고 다른 사람들과 구분되는 그들만의 패션스타일을 가지고 있다.Asmat부족은코코넛 잎으로 만든 옷을 입는다.남자는 대개 바지를 입지 않고 대신 Koteka라는 것을 사용해 남자의 중요한 부분을 가린다.

The women of Asmat also don’t wear proper clothes like what we are supposed to wear. Other people in Indonesia or maybe almost all people in the world will be shy if they wear the clothes as Asmat wear. They even don’t cover all body.
오른쪽 그림에서 보시는 것처럼 여성들도 하의만 입고 있습니다. 그래서 외부 사람들이 보기에는 민망할 수는 있네요. :-)

Well I think in maintaining their clothing for some  thousand years , they could protect their uniqueness and main rules in this globalization world.
아스맛 부족들의 의복문화를 수천년동안 유지함으로써 세계화의 흐름에 휩쓸리지 않는 유일성을 갖지 않나 생각해봅니다.
