베트남의 교육 시스템(by Hung)

The Vietnam education system is similar with others countries, is 4-level based one from elementary school to university/college. Basic subjects such as mathematic or literature are focused. It is not difficulty to find a pupil who is good at mathematic. Yearly, Math Vietnam delegate achieves high performance at international level. However, other subjects like music, painting, dancing were not treated as important as they would be.


Vietnamese students are very good at theory. For instant they can remember some complicated theories, read them aloud with ease but they find troublesome with even simple definition. They can solve very tough problems but they can not generalize them. The reason is they mainly work with book, without models, pictures, simulations and experiences, in other word they lack good conditions to study. Moreover, when they can enter better environment, they develop quickly and normally, become outstanding ones.

Another problem is degrees are crucial then they think that without degrees, they cannot do any thing. The main purpose in 12-year period they study is to enter some university as their parents’ expectation. As a result, if they pass the entrance exam, many of them tend to stop studying.


All in all, Vietnamese students are good in some sense and potential. If they can receive better conditions to work, they can contribute to the development of those schools, those countries.
